Gothenburg Landvetter Airport (GOT)
Located in south-west Sweden, Gothenburg Landvetter Airport (GOT) is Sweden's second largest airport after Stockholm-Arlanda Airport and it is the gateway to the south-west of the country. The airport is situated around 20 km / 12.5 miles to the east of central Gothenburg and close to Harryda, Risbacka, Nya Langenäs, Snakered and the town of Landvetter itself, the facility's namesake.
Serving more than five million passengers annually and over 13,000 daily, Gothenburg Landvetter Airport features flights arriving from 30 destinations all over Europe and within Sweden, including some major world airlines. Business travellers make up a high proportion of the overall traffic, comprising around 65 percent of all international passengers and around 80 percent of domestic passengers.
Choices of airport transport to Gothenburg and beyond include public bus transport, operated by Västtrafik, with numbers 615 and 616 running every 15 minutes during the day. Destinations covered by Flygbussarnas airport buses include Landvetter, Borås, and Gothenburg's centrally located Hjalmar Brantingplatsen and Nils Ericson Terminal, next to the train station (Centralstationen) and the Nordstan shopping centre. Limousines are also in good supply at Landvetter Airport, as are taxis, operated by local firms such as Lerums and Taxi Göteborg.
About Gothenburg Tourism
Gothenburg boasts a magnificent harbour and it is Sweden's second city, being located within the westerly province of Västergötland (Västra Götalands). There is a wealth of attractions here, including canals, a bustling port, the biggest university in the whole of Scandinavia, an opera house (Gothernburg Opera), and numerous brilliant museums, the crux of which is the Stadtsmuseum.
Gothenburg's biggest attraction and Sweden's most well-known family day out destination is Liseberg, an all-encompassing amusement park, within easy reach of Landvetter Airport (GOT). The number one ride here is Spaceport Liseberg. Farther afield is Gothenburg's very own archipelago, lying just offshore.
